Release date: April 5, 2015

James RandiThe Amazing Randi, famous magician and a pioneer of Skepticism, joins this episode of Rationally Speaking for a conversation about the past and future of the Skeptic movement. Massimo and Julia's questions for Randi include: Do you think Skepticism has shaped public opinion in any significant ways? What do you want the JREF to look like several years from now? And what have you changed your mind about, and why?

Randi's pick: "An Honest Liar"

I'm glad that Julia brought up the climate change issue; I thought that was where she was going when she asked Randi if he had ever been wrong about anything.

I don't buy Randi's defense of the incident; his skepticism about whether the science possessed enough data to draw the conclusions the scientists were drawing was not a rational position to take. The sufficiency of the data was a decision for the scientific community to decide, not a layman. This might have been a bit of arrogance on Randi's part; since he has a history of showing individual scientists where they were going wrong, it might have been easy to assume that he could do the same for the entire community.

I wonder why an ancient person without financial concerns is exhausting so much energy (all over the place) flogging his movie..
Ego?
