Welcome to Rationally Speaking! I’m the host, Julia Galef, and my goal is to explore important issues with nuance and rigor. Most episodes feature an interview with a scientist, journalist, or other thinker. Sometimes, I interview multiple people with different perspectives on a topic, to try and triangulate my way to the truth. I like to ask questions like “What have you changed your mind about?” and “What do you think are the strongest arguments against your view?”
Here’s the latest episode: Is cash the best way to help the poor? (Michael Faye)
If you’re new to the podcast, here are a few additional episodes that will give you a taste of what I’m about:
- In Episode 252, I try to wrap my mind around different views on morality, with Jonathan Haidt (author of The Righteous Mind)
- In Episode 253, I talk to Vitalik Buterin (co-founder of Ethereum) about his intellectually honest approach to leadership, and his defense of life extension research
- In Episode 245, “Are Boomers to blame for millennials’ struggles?” I interview three different authors and form my own conclusions about Baby Boomers’ guilt.
Every episode is free and comes with a transcript. You can browse a complete list of past episodes, learn more about the podcast’s history, or contact me here.
